Almost 9.2 million cosmetic procedures were performed last year, say annual stats
The number of cosmetic surgery procedures increased again last year, with liposuction and breast augmentation leading the list of the most popular procedures. Among nonsurgical cosmetic procedures, botulinum toxin type A (including BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport) was the top choice, followed by hyaluronic acid dermal fillers (including Juvéderm and Restylane). These findings are part of the 15th annual cosmetic surgery survey from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
Nearly 9.2 million surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States in 2011, according to the report. Surgical procedures accounted for over 1.6 million procedures, while nonsurgical procedures totaled more than 7.5 million.
